Mercedes CLA250 Battery Replacement in Dubai

Which CLA250 do you have? A C117 with the M270 engine, an early C118 with the M260, or a facelift C118 running the M260 as a 48V mild hybrid with an 80Ah main battery beside it? They need different parts and different handling, and Battery Zone UAE settles the question from your VIN before a technician sets off anywhere in Dubai.

Which One Is Yours

Mercedes CLA250 by Generation

The engine code, not the model year, is what decides the battery in a CLA250. Find your engine and the rest follows.

C117 with M2702013 - 2019

The 2.0 litre M270 turbo at 211hp, in front-wheel-drive and 4MATIC form. AGM main battery and a small auxiliary, no 48V system. The simplest of the three to diagnose.

C118 with M2602019 - 2023

The 2.0 litre M260 at 224hp. Still a two-battery car, but with MBUX and more standing load, and an auxiliary unit that tends to fail before the main one does.

C118 facelift, 48V2023 - present

The same M260 with a belt-driven starter generator and a lithium 48V battery. The 12V main battery is listed at 80Ah, the auxiliary remains, and the car now has three batteries that can each produce a symptom.

About us

Three Batteries Is Not Three Times the Trouble

Owners of the facelift CLA250 sometimes worry that the 48V system has turned a simple job into a dealer-only one. It has not. The 48V battery does one thing: it powers the belt-driven starter generator that restarts the engine and adds a little torque. It is not what wakes the car, unlocks it or runs the electronics.

That remains the job of the 12V main battery, which is why an 80Ah AGM sits under the bonnet of a car that also carries a lithium pack. When the 12V is flat the CLA250 is dead, 48V system or not. And that 12V AGM is replaced the same way it is on any other Mercedes: correct part, correct fitting, registered to the car.

What the 48V system does change is the diagnosis. A fault in it produces messages and a loss of start-stop that look, from the driver's seat, exactly like a tired 12V battery. Battery Zone UAE reads what the car reports about the 48V system before replacing anything, so you are not sold a 12V battery for a problem it cannot fix.

Why Battery Zone UAE

How Battery Zone UAE Approaches a CLA250

The same four steps on every generation, with the 48V check added where the car has one.

Diagnosing a Mercedes CLA250 battery fault in Dubai
Engine Code From the VINM270 or M260, and if M260 whether it is the 48V facelift. This decides the part and the procedure before anyone leaves the depot.
12V Main Under LoadResting voltage on a modern Mercedes tells you almost nothing. We measure what the battery delivers when asked to crank a 2.0 turbo.
Auxiliary and 48V Read From the CarThe small auxiliary unit is tested directly. On facelift cars the 48V system's own reporting is read, because a fault there mimics a flat main battery.
Correct AGM Fitted and CodedThe right capacity for your generation, seated in the engine-bay tray, registered to the battery management system, warnings cleared.

What a Failing CLA250 Battery Looks Like

The 2.0 turbo starts easily, so the early signs are in the systems rather than the starter.

Start-stop no longer engaging, on any generation the first thing to go

A loss of the 48V boost on facelift cars, felt as a flatter pull-away, often with a message

Auxiliary battery malfunction on the display, pointing at the small unit

MBUX taking longer to boot, or restarting mid-journey

Slow or intermittent keyless entry

Any battery past its second Dubai summer

Questions

Mercedes CLA250 Battery Questions

An AGM main battery in the engine bay: around 70Ah on the C117 and pre-facelift C118, and 80Ah as listed for the 2023-on 48V facelift. All three also have a small auxiliary battery, and the facelift adds a 48V lithium unit. Battery Zone UAE confirms which you have from the VIN.

If it was built from the 2023 facelift onwards and is a petrol car, it is. The VIN settles it in seconds, and Battery Zone UAE checks it on the phone before sending a technician.

Yes. The 12V main and auxiliary batteries on the facelift car are replaced and registered the same way as on any other Mercedes, at your location. The 48V lithium battery is a separate system; we read its status from the car and tell you honestly if the fault sits there.

Because the 48V system only drives the starter generator. Everything else, from unlocking the car to running MBUX and the control units, runs on the 12V. A flat 12V leaves a mild hybrid as stranded as any petrol car.

It moves between build dates. On some cars it is under the bonnet near the main battery, on others behind trim in the passenger footwell. Battery Zone UAE technicians know both positions, and the test tells us whether it needs replacing at all.

Yes. The car charges according to what it believes about the battery's age and capacity. Skip the registration and the new battery is either under- or over-charged from day one, which in Dubai's heat shortens its life noticeably. Battery Zone UAE codes it as part of every fitting.
